Good for Epilepsy & Dementia – Benzo in a Bottle
About 4 years ago I was diagnosed with independent generalized seizures of various types (mostly complex partial seizures). Though my seizures appear to be controlled by prescription medications, a recent 72-hour EEG (which I all but begged for) is still indicating various abnormalities indicative of seizure potential. My neurologist is concerned, and I’ve now been referred to an epilepsy specialist.While researching natural treatments for epilepsy I learned of niacinamide and that it may be useful in treating/reducing seizures. Since the majority of the symptoms I’m currently experiencing are similar to those I would experience in the days preceding a seizure (pressure at the base of my skull, clenching, agitation, anxiety), I decided to try it. I’ve noticed that my symptoms reliably diminish within 15 minutes of taking it, though I do seem to need more than one capsule per day. (Right now I am taking 1 capsule twice daily and am hoping it won’t kill me.) I am also hoping my sister will be open to trying this on our 90-year father, recently diagnosed with dementia, as there is some evidence suggesting that this supplement may prove beneficial there too. Google ‘Silent Seizures May Cause Alzheimer’s Dementia’. Apparently niacinamide also has antiviral properties.Please, if you experience chronic and debilitating anxiety, I urge you to see a neurologist and request an ambulatory EEG. There are sooo many different types of seizures, not just the ‘grand mals’ familiar to most people. Also, so many people with epilepsy experience seizures almost exclusively at night, so routine EEGs performed during the daytime will often miss a seizure disorder. (Please join an epilepsy forum. This is more common than you think.) I had nooo idea that a negative (‘normal’) EEG does NOT rule out a seizure disorder. As someone whose epilepsy flew under the radar for 38 years with a diagnosis of ‘anxiety’, I know I am not the exception. Coincidentally, niacinamide acts on the same GABA receptors as the medication used to treat my anxiety, an anti-convulsant benzodiazepine. My hunch after what happened with me is that chronic anxiety = undiagnosed seizures…we’re just not there yet.

Acne Be Gone!
I’ve suffered from acne for almost 20 years (I do not suffer from PCOS, but my acne is definitely hormonal.) I also recently discovered that I suffer from Keratosis Pilaris as well, which is the hardening of the skin’s keratin in your pores, resulting in little bumps all over your skin that look like pimples, but aren’t, (I know, it’s gross, but that’s life.) I’ve been taking 1-2 of these per day for the past three weeks and I have not had ONE NEW PIMPLE, not even during my menses. I’ve tried Proactiv, and every over the counter Acne treatment you could find and nothing’s really worked because the cause of my acne is hormonal not hygenic. (It also helps to minimize my sugar and dairy intake). Birth control also helped my skin a lot but I almost ended up with kidney failure because of it.This is the safest, most effective and inexpensive solution I’ve found to control my acne from the inside out, I will definitely be purchasing these again. 🙂

Vegan Niacinamide at a competitive price
I like it as a vegan source for Niacinamide B3. There are few providers of a vegan version of this vitamin. It’s more expensive than other sources, but their price is very competitive to other vegan products.

Helps my complexion
I bought these after doing extensive research for aids in helping rosacea. Per my research I take 1 capsule 2x a day , they’re super gentle on my sensitive stomach. This is the second bottle I’ve gone through and I’m noticing a difference in my complexion, my flare ups aren’t as often and aren’t as intense. My skin is brighter and more even toned. I’m really happy with the results and will continue using this product for the foreseeable future.

No way to tell if this product is really good or really bad
I am writing this review because Amazon pressed me for it. I ordered Niacinamide capsules 500mg and I received capsules I assume to contain 500mg of Niacinamide. I have no basis for rating the product as really good or really bad. So I gave it 3 stars. I am taking this product because of an Australian study that claims 500mg of Niacinamide twice a day reduces the incidence of non-melanoma skin cancer lesions. If my dermatologist confirms that it is working I’ll come back with a 5 star review.
